How to Choose Healthier Food in Singapore

If you wish to be successful in losing weight or having a healthier diet, it’s important to monitor the calories and nutrients of your food. The Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB) has a useful online database that makes it easy for you to understand the energy and nutrient composition of over 1,000 food items available in Singapore, including:

  • Cereal based dishes (eg. Beehoon seafood soup, Nasi lemak, etc)
  • Meat based dishes (eg. Roasted duck, Curry chicken, etc)
  • Fish and seafood based dishes (eg. Chilli crab, Steamed pomfret, etc)
  • Vegetable based dishes (eg. Broccoli stir-fried , Spinach fried, etc)
  • Local cakes, desserts and snacks (eg. Almond jelly, Pandan chiffon cake, etc)
  • Egg based dishes (eg. Omelette oyster, Egg with tofu, etc)
  • Pulses based dishes (eg. Curry chickpeas, Longbeans with tempeh, etc)
  • Sauces, gravies and dressings (eg. Coconut milk, Oyster sauce, etc)
  • Beverages (eg. Coffee with sugar, Soyabean drink, etc)

The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama
