Working mothers generally face higher levels of work-life conflict compared to fathers and more can be done to encourage fathers to play a more active role to support their spouses in their parenting roles.

This is according to the Fathers Action Network (FAN)’s Fatherhood and Workplaces Study 2012.

FAN shared the survey results at the fourth annual Dads for Life Conference on Friday.

The study examined the challenges that fathers face at the workplace in balancing their roles as fathers and employees.

According to the survey, a majority of fathers in Singapore have more positive experiences at work and enjoyed more support from their spouses at home compared to mothers.

Female respondents were more likely to consider their ability to care for their child when considering a new job and sacrificing for children as part of parenthood.

Fathers seemed to see their roles as more of a financial provider for the family.
